Gorgeous Giggling Girls | Alexandria, VA Child and Family Photographer

The beautiful blond 'B' girls are BY FAR the giggliest and goofiest kids that I have the pleasure of working with. Every year, they remind me that if you allow kids to be their true silly selves, then the love and laughter will naturally come pouring out. My camera practically exploded while capturing their energy and pure joy.

As always with this family, I had a hard time choosing favorites to share for a sneak peak, as the girls are so ridiculously photogenic. But here are a few early favorites:

Catching Up With The 'S' Kids Down By The Canal | Washington, D.C. Family Photographer

I recently caught up with the 'S' family, whom I hadn't seen in a couple years. We spent a lovely morning together down by the Georgetown Canal. And what a wonderfully fun area to explore, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of M Street. So much to experience - bridges, stone walls, wooden staircases and fences, and canal locks. Lots of fun, lots of smiles.

Sisterly Love | Northern VA Child and Family Photographer

My fall season would not be complete without a session with the 'K' girls - an annual tradition of running around pretty gardens in fancy dresses. Them, not me, of course!

The two girls are so different in personality. One is very willing to strike a pose for my camera. The other would prefer to run away or just not look up at me. But oh how they love each other! Whether they are hugging, tackling, or making funny faces at each other, the sisterly love fills the air and makes everyone laugh and smile!

Frolicking in the Fall with the 'F' Family | Washington, D.C. Family Photographer

I appreciate every opportunity I get to spend time with the fabulous 'F' family. Their two ballerina girls, with their adorable curls and big smiles, are so fun to play with. I've loved watching them grow and mature over time - so much happens during the early years!

We frolicked in gardens, 'balance beam' walked on top of pretty stone walls, knocked on interesting wooden doors, and explored secret passageways and stone stairwells. Never a still moment with these two cuties!

Thanks again to the 'F' family for a wonderful time together, as always!

Watching the 'W' Family Grow | Washington, D.C. Baby, Child, Family Photographer

I'm always amazed at how much a family can change in the span of a year or two. The last time I saw the 'W' family, they had one baby who had just turned 6 months old. Fast forward 2 years and that baby is now a big sister. And the new baby in the family isn't even that little anymore. She just celebrated her 1st birthday and is running at full speed! So cute to see this tiny person moving around so quickly and so independently. She's also very friendly. She gave me a cheery greeting when I arrived and kept climbing into my lap for snuggles by the end of our session - perks of the job! =)

Thank you to the 'W' family for welcoming me into your lovely home and for allowing me to spend time with you. I loved watching your tender and loving interactions with your adorable girls. You are a beautiful family.

Summer Smiles with the 'S' Family | Falls Church, VA Child and Family Photographer

Being a first generation American myself, with mixed race kids, I can totally appreciate the 'S' Family's very American story. Dad is from India, mom is from Germany, and they have an absolutely beautiful son who was born here in the States, on July 4th of all days! How super cool is it that he is learning three different languages at home! He'll have such an advantage if he can speak them all as he grows up - I'm so envious.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a walk with them through the woods near their house, just after little 'O' turned 2 years old. He is adorable with a mind of his own, telling us all what he wanted us to do and where to go. Kids are so cutely bossy at this age. But he did share with me his love of Thomas the Train and I got to hear about how much he enjoys riding on the back of his dad's bike and how he loves to swim.

Thank you to the 'S' Family for letting me capture this birthday milestone.

Marvelous 'M' on the Move | Washington, D.C. Baby Photographer

When I photographed baby 'M' back in the fall, she was sitting pretty at 8 months old. Fast forward to her 1yr-old portraits, and she is very much on the move. I had a great time following her around the house, trying to capture her with her favorite things. She is such a super sweet and pleasant baby and has the most adorable open-mouth-smile-with-tongue-hanging-out. So stinkin' cute!

Happy 1st Birthday, Baby 'M'!

Frozen Bubbles and Frozen Fingers | Alexandria, VA Child Photographer

With the temps down at 11 degrees early this morning, I made an attempt at freezing bubbles. Seemed like a cool frigid weather activity to do with the kiddos, but they had absolutely no interest in joining me outside, and it wound up being harder than it sounds. I had trouble getting the bubbles to freeze due to the wind, and my fingers just about froze off. But I did manage to get some spectacular color swirls before the bubbles popped, and a cool reflection of me as an added bonus.
